SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In time for the holiday season, The diaTribe Foundation announced that its senior editor, acclaimed author and diabetes expert, Adam Brown, has introduced a new 30-day campaign aimed at helping people with diabetes navigate the holiday season safely and happily. Launching today at diaTribe.org/Holidays, Twitter, and Facebook, the "Holiday Bright Spots" campaign will include actionable advice that goes beyond the usual warnings and admonitions.
"This campaign is all about sharing tips to help people with diabetes and prediabetes navigate Thanksgiving and the winter holidays," said Brown. "These food-focused holidays can wreak havoc on blood sugars, and we're eager to help with a framework and 32 actionable tips to transcend obstacles."
Audiences can expect:
- New tips posted every week at diaTribe.org/Holidays
- Weekly Facebook Lives (@diaTribeNews) to answer questions and discuss challenges
- A live Twitter chat on November 27 at 6pm PT, 9pm ET at #HolidayBrightSpots
- A raffle for signed copies of Bright Spots & Landmines, Adam's acclaimed diabetes guide
"Holidays can add stress, unpredictable routines, and foods that present serious challenges for people with diabetes," said Kelly L. Close, founder and chair of The diaTribe Foundation. "Given Adam's depth of diabetes knowledge, he's uniquely qualified to share this holiday toolkit."
Brown, diagnosed with diabetes in 2001, serves as senior editor at diaTribe and head of diabetes technology & connected care at Close Concerns. Brown writes an acclaimed column for diaTribe.org, Adam's Corner, which has brought practical diabetes tips to more than one million people since 2013.
Brown's 2017 book, Bright Spots & Landmines: The Diabetes Guide I Wish Someone Had Handed Me received immediate praise for its actionable advice on food, mindset, exercise, and sleep. To date over 90,000 copies have been sold/downloaded.
Bright Spots & Landmines is available as a free digital download, a free audiobook, and at Amazon.com (paperback, Kindle, Audible audiobook). A mmol/L edition is available as a free digital download and in paperback at Amazon UK and Amazon Canada.
