Diamond® GreenLight™ Matches Developed From Responsibly Managed Forests
First Matches in U.S. Certified by Forest Stewardship Council
DALEVILLE, Ind., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- American-made and all-natural products continue to be a top preference for many consumers, and now for the first time, people have access to U.S.-produced, natural wood matches right at their fingertips. Diamond® GreenLight™ Matches, manufactured in Minnesota with wood sourced from local forests, are the only matches certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), a forest management organization that assesses responsibly managed forests.
The FSC certification ensures the Diamond® manufacturing facility adheres to best-practice standards for their GreenLight™ Matches, including the use of natural forests that do not incorporate hazardous pesticides and do not cultivate genetically modified trees. In addition to the natural features, Diamond® GreenLight™ Matches are strong, quick to light and have a long burn-time for ease of use. The matches and packaging are recyclable.
Recent Diamond® brand research indicates that matches are often preferred to lighters due to their environmental friendliness and ease of use. In fact, the majority of those surveyed said they would prefer matches for everyday needs such as lighting charcoal grills, birthday candles, fireplaces and campfires. Trends coming out of the survey also indicate that the use of traditional matches is on the rise from previous years, especially with people under age 35.
"For nearly 130 years, Diamond® brand has produced quality matches, and we are always searching for innovative ways to improve our products to better fit consumers' lifestyles," said Emily Sander, Brand Manager for Jarden Home Brands, the maker of the Diamond® brand Matches. "GreenLight™ Matches were developed to provide an alternative to lighters which are made of plastic and sit in landfills after use. We are proud to be able to offer this environmentally-friendly solution while still maintaining the high level of quality expected of Diamond® brand matches."
Diamond® GreenLight™ matches are available in Large Kitchen Strike-on-Box and Penny size matches. For more information, visit www.diamondbrands.com.
