Dialogue On Sharing Economy At Florida State University Set For Feb. 28
'How the Sharing Economy is Changing the World,' to focus on peer-to-peer platforms; 'Shark Tank' winner to evaluate student businesses
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Feb. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Driven by the disruptive success and subsequent regulatory challenges of companies such as Airbnb and Uber, the non-profit organizations GenFKD, Generation: Financial Knowledge Development, and FEE, the Foundation for Economic Education, will co-host a daylong conference exploring the economic impact of the new peer-to-peer economy.
"How the Sharing Economy is Changing the World" will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the HCB 101 Lecture Hall at Florida State University's Tallahassee campus. The conference will feature such distinguished speakers as Lawrence Reed, the President of FEE, and Jeffrey Tucker, the Founder of www.Liberty.me.
"It's difficult to get students to understand that economic issues and policies impact them every day and will continue to affect them for their entire lives," said Jesse Jacobs, executive director of GenFKD. "The sharing economy is a topic that students find immediately accessible, while also clearly illustrating greater macroeconomic and free market trends."
The agenda includes: opportunities in emerging markets, the psychological impact of the sharing economy and a breakdown of the role of the entrepreneur. GenFKD also will host a panel of Florida-based entrepreneurs, including Danny Nardo, co-founder of Nardo's Naturals, a 2013 "Shark Tank" winner, and Omar Soliman, co-founder and CEO of College Hunks Hauling Junk, who will evaluate FSU student-conceived businesses during an interactive pitch competition in the middle of the afternoon.

12:30 – 1:10 p.m.: The Rise of the Sharing Economy, Jeffrey Tucker
