Dialogic PowerMedia XMS Media Server Joins Nokia Telco Cloud Ecosystem

PARSIPPANY, N.J., March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dialogic, a cloud-optimized applications and infrastructure solutions provider for service providers, enterprises, and developers, announced today it has successfully completed certification of its PowerMedia™ XMS Media Server Virtualized Network Function (VNF) in Nokia's cloud infrastructure. PowerMedia XMS has also completed interoperability testing with Nokia's OpenTAS application server, a core component of Nokia's VoLTE offering. Nokia, a forerunner in developing Telco Cloud, has developed and tested virtualized network elements and cloud application management together with end-to-end services to support the migration and demonstrate the readiness of cloud technology for commercial deployment.

PowerMedia XMS's virtualized media processing capabilities include voice mail, Interactive Voice Response, voice and video conferencing, tones, announcements, and support region-specific telephony deployments. Its all-software scalability was seen as important in the certification process because it will help operators around the globe seamlessly move applications to the cloud. The PowerMedia XMS VNF provides very distinct features to allow operators to quickly roll out value-added multimedia IMS/VoLTE and innovative services specific to their customers.

The Level 2 certification test involved the implementation of the PowerMedia VNF in Nokia's reference cloud platform (VMware-based) using the resources of the underlying Nokia CloudBand™ Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) Infrastructure layer. "Interoperability is a huge concern for operators not only between virtualized applications but also within their cloud computing environments," said Jim Machi, Senior Vice President Product Management and Marketing for Dialogic. "Activities like this validate PowerMedia's flexibility and openness not only with other vendors' VNFs, but also with third party Management and Orchestrations (MANO) solutions."

Additional certification is planned to validate automated lifecycle management of the PowerMedia XMS VNF with Nokia's Cloud Application Manager, the VNF Manager component of Nokia's Network Functions Virtualization MANO offering.
