SAN JOSE, Calif., April 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Diablo Technologies today announced that it has joined the Hortonworks® Partnerworks ISV/IHV program and has successfully achieved Product Integration Certification for the Supermicro® Memory1™ server on the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP™). Powered by Diablo's Memory1 and Supermicro's 1028U-TR4T+ SuperServer, the Supermicro Memory1 solution provides up to 2TB of application memory per server at a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). By achieving certification on HDP, customers can now leverage terabytes of high-performance application memory in a fully integrated Apache Spark™ platform.
Apache Spark is quickly becoming the streaming analytics engine of choice for parallel and high-speed analysis of big data. Spark runs on Apache Hadoop YARN in HDP, allowing Spark and other applications to share common Hadoop clusters and datasets with optimal efficiency. The Supermicro Memory1 solution dramatically expands the available memory to applications, enabling increased performance for Apache Spark workloads including Spark SQL, Graph Analysis and Machine Learning.
"Memory1 provides unparalleled in-memory processing, enabling IT organizations to realize increased business value through improved workload performance and server efficiency," said Kevin Wagner, Vice President of Marketing at Diablo Technologies. "We are very excited about our partnership with Hortonworks and the multiple benefits this combination brings to the Spark ecosystem for big data analytics."
To certify partner integrations, Hortonworks reviews each product for architectural best practices, validates it against a comprehensive suite of integration test cases and performs benchmarks for scale under varied workloads, while comprehensively documenting every step in the process.
The demonstrated benefits for Apache Spark deployments on Memory1 include:
- Greater than 2x performance improvement per cluster
- Up to 389% work per server advantage
- Up to 5:1 server consolidation
- Up to 60% lower Total Cost of Ownership
"By combining the high performance of Memory1 with the scalability and flexibility of Supermicro SuperServers, users of Apache Spark will significantly reduce job times and simultaneously improve TCO," said Don Clegg, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Supermicro. "Achieving certification on the Hortonworks platform allows us to jointly bring the Memory1 solution to the Apache Spark market with the added confidence of Hortonworks certification."
Supermicro Memory1 solutions leverage Diablo's high-capacity flash-as-memory DIMMs and intelligent memory management software to enable more work per server. By scaling up memory resources, the Supermicro Memory1 solution is able to deliver up to 40TB of application memory in a single rack. More efficient and resource dense servers means improved real-time analytics, faster business decisions, and more transactions completed in a shorter amount of time. With Memory1, customers can measurably achieve more work per server than with DRAM alone. The net result is greater flexibility to address evolving business needs and technologies at a lower TCO.
