CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Aug. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/-- Performance Bicycle, the No. 1 choice for people who love to ride, hosted its second annual Tour de Cure campaign across Performance Bicycle's 100+ locations in support of the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Through sales of 'yellow pin up jerseys' during the month of July, customers donated $17,351, with Performance Bicycle donating an additional $5,000, bringing the total contribution to $22,351.
"We're honored to partner with Tour de Cure and our customers across the nation in supporting the ADA's efforts to raise awareness and further research to eradicate diabetes," said Performance Bicycle's Community Relations Director, Chris London.
With over 29 million people in the United States who have diabetes, and approximately 8 million undiagnosed, according to the CDC, research and education are vital for awareness and getting closer to finding a cure. The month-long July pin up campaign raised awareness and funds for the research done by American Diabetes Association, as well as promoted Tour de Cure rides held across the country each year.
"We are excited to have Performance Bicycle link arms with the Tour de Cure in our mission to raise awareness and funds to help prevent and cure Diabetes," said Sara Prevost, Tour de Cure's National Director of Signature Events. "Performance Bicycle and its customers' generous contributions show their commitment in supporting the nearly 30 million adults and children battling diabetes everyday, and inspiring communities all across the nation to live active lifestyles through cycling."
As advocates for healthy living and in support of local cycling communities, Performance Bicycle will continue its partnership with Tour de Cure in 2017. Through this relationship Performance will continue to raise awareness for the disease and encourage the local communities that Performance serves to lead healthy, active lifestyles through cycling.
