DFW AIRPORT, Texas, Oct. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Customers will have more connecting options than ever at Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport, as American Airlines adds 12 new destinations and increased frequencies for its largest hub. The new service strengthens DFW's status as a global superhub, providing a growing network of destinations and convenient connections for customers and cargo.
New international service from DFW Airport includes Durango, Mexico; Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, Honduras; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. American also will serve eight new domestic destinations, including Harlingen; Augusta, Ga.; Gainesville, Fla.; Yuma, and Flagstaff, Ariz.; and Bakersfield, Monterey and Burbank, Calif.
"These new destinations demonstrate the strength of the North Texas market and the power of the American Airlines superhub at DFW, which is the largest in their system," said John Ackerman, DFW's Executive Vice President of Global Strategy and Development. "Building our domestic network, which is now the largest in the United States with 182 destinations, supports our current international service and positions DFW well for additional global connections in the future."
With the announcement, DFW Airport now offers airline service to 244 destinations worldwide, including 62 international destinations.
American also announced it will bolster its existing service between the U.S. and Mexico with additional frequencies to six cities it already serves, including Guadalajara, Leon, Querétaro, Chihuahua, San Luis Potosí, and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. DFW already connects more travelers between Asia and Latin America than any other North American airport, and this additional service from American will provide even more convenient options for customers.
The airline will launch all four international flights starting in early June of 2019. The domestic flights to Harlingen, Augusta, Gainesville, Yuma and Bakersfield will begin in March, while the flights to Monterey, Flagstaff and Burbank will start in April.
