DeWitt County land adjacent Clinton Lake Recreation Area set for Nov. 6 auction
CLINTON, Ill., Sept. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Approximately 402 acres of land – including land bordering Clinton Lake Recreation Area – will be offered at auction Thursday, Nov. 6, with Murray Wise Associates marketing the property and managing the sale.
"Clinton Lake is one of the state's most popular destinations for boating, fishing and other water sports, and three of these tracts – approximately 166 acres – are directly adjacent to the lake property. So we anticipate a lot of interest in these for recreational purposes," said Joe Bubon, executive vice president of the auction company.
The land, which also includes 236 acres of productive tillable cropland, will sell in 15 tracts, some of which are potential building sites for homes and other improvements.
"Most of the tillable land is concentrated on the northern parts of the property. Bidders will be able to make offers for each of the tracts individually, or for the entire 402 acres. For example, we expect to see combinations of tracts that will include very productive farmland with more wooded areas near the lake. This would enable someone to work or lease the farmland, while enjoying the recreational areas and perhaps building one or more homes," he said.
The land is located east of West Side Road, with tracts both north and south of Illinois Route 10.
The auction will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Elks Lodge in Clinton. Auction personnel will be available at the Elks Lodge from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 15 and Oct. 22 to provide detailed information.
