Dewar's is supporting the TEDGlobal 2011 conference, which is being held in Edinburgh for the first time this year, from July 11th - 15th. The theme for the conference is "The Stuff of Life" and the world-class, inspirational speakers will include: philosopher Alain de Botton, anti-torture activist Karen Tse, pianist and composer Balazs Havasi, brain scientist Allan Jones and actress Thandie Newton. Speakers are challenged to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less to the 850 delegates attending the conference.
Before the conference gets underway, fifty delegates will experience an exclusive private tour of the DEWAR'S World of Whisky distillery in nearby Aberfeldy, including a bespoke blending and tasting session.
DEWAR'S will also develop a unique perspective of TEDGlobal through the eyes of well-known artist Hugh MacLeod, who as the DEWAR'S Signature Artist will create unique works of art each day reflecting his own thoughts on the conference talks.
Not only a place for inspirational talks, the TEDGlobal conference also plays host to many exclusive after hours events throughout the week. DEWAR'S will be hosting the after-party for all delegates following the Grand Opening Reception and organising several intimate whisky tastings.
"TED has had the pleasure of collaborating with many of the world's most ground-breaking brands. Our partnerships allow us to encourage and expand the dialogue of innovation," said Ronda Carnegie, Head of Global Partnership at TED. "This will be TEDGlobal's first year in Edinburgh and with Dewar's strong Scottish heritage, it is a natural fit."
Iain Kennedy, Senior Global Category Director, DEWAR'S whisky added "We are really proud to have formed this association. TED has become a global phenomenon and is committed to the spread of great ideas and their positive outcome. This fits perfectly with DEWAR'Sown view of life that some things are just worth doing."
"We hope that this will be the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial partnership."

About DEWAR'S Blended Scotch Whisky
Founded in 1846 by John Dewar, DEWAR'S has grown from a small wine and spirits merchant shop in Scotland, to one of the largest Scotch whisky brands in the world. Best known for its iconic DEWAR'S White Label, the top selling Blended Scotch Whisky in the USA, it has expanded its family to create a portfolio of premium & super premium whiskies including DEWAR'S 12 Years Old, DEWAR'S 18 Years Old & the exclusive DEWAR'S Signature. These whiskies are crafted using the DEWAR'S double-ageing process. Pioneered by DEWAR'S in 1899, it involves returning the hand-crafted blend to vintage oak casks for further maturation. The result is a smoother taste with a long, lingering finish; an extra step that is simply worth doing. A taste that wins medals and applause, making DEWAR'S one of Scotland's most awarded whiskies.
About TED
TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 26 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. At TED, the world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Benoit Mandelbrot, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Two major TED events are held each year: The TED Conference takes place every spring in Long Beach, California (along with a parallel conference, TEDActive, in Palm Springs), and TEDGlobal will be held each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily; the new TED Conversations, enabling broad conversations among TED fans; and the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide.
TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, which offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
TEDGlobal 2011, "The Stuff of Life," will be held July 11-15, 2011, in Edinburgh, Scotland.
