Devil's Slide Facility Celebrates Holcim Centennial

WALTHAM, Mass., Aug. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Holcim (US) Devil's Slide facility, located in Morgan, Utah, is participating in a year-long community service initiative to mark the centennial anniversary of its parent company, Holcim Ltd.  Holcim (US), one of the nation's leading manufacturers and suppliers of cement and mineral components, is celebrating its 100-year anniversary by participating in Together for Communities, an initiative in which Holcim employees lead local volunteer projects.

This July, the Devil's Slide facility sponsored the second annual Morgan Marathon. Over 800 runners competed in the marathon, half marathon and a 5K race. Over the year, employees have led beautification projects at Henefer Cemetery, where they installed a bowery and planted trees, and Croydon Park, where they replaced playground equipment and upgraded the park's landscaping. The facility has also participated in the Morgan Splash Pad and Coalville Rail Trail Access projects, and various United Way initiatives.

Holcim aims to engage as many of its 80,000 worldwide employees to volunteer for one day in their community. Because Holcim recognizes employees have unique knowledge of their communities, each project is employee-led and geared toward local needs. Though each volunteer activity is driven by local needs, the initiative is a global one.
