Detroit Media Partnership Receives $150,000 Incentive for Energy Efficiency Projects through DTE Energy's 'Your Energy Savings' Program
NOVI, Mich., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Media Partnership has received a $150,000 incentive payment from DTE Energy for making energy efficiency improvements at its Sterling Heights Operations Facility.
In a ceremony today at the 2011 Energy Conference and Exhibition DTE Energy's William Clemens, marketing program manager, presented a $150,000 check to Bill Bilot, production technical manager for the Detroit Media Partnership. The incentive payment is an element of DTE Energy's Your Energy Savings initiative, a program designed to help DTE Energy customers improve the energy efficiency of their homes and businesses. DTE Energy and the Engineering Society of Detroit jointly hosted the 2011 Energy Conference and Exhibition, which was held at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.
Detroit Media Partnership received the funds for a chiller and heat exchanger replacement project. This incentive paid for 40 percent of the project, which included replacing chillers that were 40 years old.
"We are very excited whenever our customers take advantage of the Your Energy Savings program incentives," said Clemens. "Our goal with this program is to make it easier for customers to take control of their energy use – and the cost. This not only benefits our customers, but the environment and the economy as well."
DTE Energy also presented Grand Valley State University with a $38,800 incentive check for multiple improvements completed throughout 2010 that will save energy on campus, including boiler tune-ups, steam traps, and custom HVAC controls projects.
Your Energy Savings (dteenergy.com/saveenergy) was launched in 2009 to help DTE Energy customers save money by using less energy. The program offers customers a wide array of energy efficiency ideas and incentives. Customers can earn incentives if they make improvements from a list of qualified efficiency upgrades for both gas and electric technologies, including energy-efficient lighting, motors and drives, controls, heating ventilation and air conditioning and more. Customers also can earn incentives for projects that don't fall under that prescriptive program, such as exhaust heat recovery or process improvements. Incentives also are available for new construction and major remodeling projects.
