Detroit Ad Agency and Samy Salon Secure Rights to Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls' for 2011 National Campaign

DETROIT, Feb. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit-based ad agency Western Creative, Inc. and client Hoyu America Co. Ltd., a premier hair care company, have obtained the rights to use the music from Queen's 1978 anthem, "Fat Bottomed Girls," for commercials advertising their Samy Fat Foam Hair Color® and Samy Fat Hair® line of volumizing hair products.

Through a collection of :30 and :15 commercials produced by Western Creative, Inc., users of Samy Fat Foam and Samy Fat Hair will be proudly referred to as "Samy Fat Hair Girls," within the modernized version of the Queen song.

While development of this advertising concept has been in the works for some time, the commercial debut in late February couldn't come with better timing. The song itself is seeing a new wave in popularity, especially with younger audiences, thanks to the wildly viewed FOX television show Glee. On the recent Valentine's Day-themed episode, one character serenaded another with Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls," making the song one of the top downloaded songs in the week after the show.
