"This award is recognition of and a testament to the innovation, dedication and excellence that our board of directors, corporate members, MBE's and staff team exhibited during one of the most challenging economic times in our country's history," said Louis Green, MMSDC President and CEO.
The road to success was paved with the strong leadership of the MMSDC board of directors, lead by Tony Brown, Group Vice President, Global Purchasing at Ford Motor Company; the best corporations that support supplier diversity and talented staff. Michigan faced a tremendous economic storm but MMSDC rose above with a strong strategic plan and cooperative efforts which lead to this special recognition as the "Council of the Year." Their corporate members and MBE's are responsible for creating jobs and over $15 billion dollars in contracts with a direct impact on Michigan's local communities.
In the four years, MMSDC has won "Council of the Year" twice, 2007 and 2010. As one of 37 regional councils affiliated with the NMSDC, their success will continue to provide greater awareness for minority business and help aid the economic recovery here in Michigan.
