LOS ANGELES, Nov. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- TeenSafe, the first and leading independent smartphone control and monitoring service for parents, is joining Internet Crimes Investigator and TeenSafe Ambassador Richard Wistocki for his TEDx talk about parents' responsibility to safeguard their children online.
As the creator of the Illinois Sexting Law, Sexual Exploitation of Children Online, and the Swatting Law, Detective Wistocki will discuss real-life digital challenges and how to avoid or report Internet crimes. He had been with the Naperville Police Department for 28 years, 22 as a SWAT sniper and 20 as an Internet Crimes Investigator.
Cyberbullying has grave consequences, as 20% of cyberbullied kids think about suicide and 10% attempt suicide. Notable cyberbullying experts, including Detective Wistocki, say parents should monitor their children's smartphones, text messages and social media accounts for signs of cyberbullying – either as victims or perpetrators.
"One of the greatest risks to our children is the device that they carry with them every day," says Detective Wistocki. "And smartphones don't come with digital safety manuals. TeenSafe is a must have for parents in safeguarding their children."
"We look forward to hearing what Detective Wistocki says on this critical topic for parents," says TeenSafe CEO Ralph Acosta. "Supporting a TEDx event gives us another opportunity to promote digital safety best practices for families."
More than 1 million parents have turned to TeenSafe to effectively manage how the digital world impacts their children's lives.
