MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced that its wholly owned design-build subsidiary Benham has won a National Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) 2010 National Excellence Award for its construction of the Dr Pepper-Snapple Soft Drink Production & Distribution Center in Victorville, Calif.
The 57-acre bottling facility includes a 280,000 square-foot production building, a 588,000 square-foot warehouse facility, a 26,000 square-foot administration building and several others. SAIC completed the 137-acre bottling plant on-time and under budget. The soft-drink company began production just one day after construction was complete.

The award was presented yesterday to SAIC's Brad Hornburg, managing director, and Mike Gwyn, president of Benham Constructors, at the DBIA's 2010 Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, Nev.
"DBIA's recognition and the fact that we were able to complete this project on schedule, despite a construction delay, are testaments to our project team's commitment to staying focused," said J.T. Grumski, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "It's wonderful to see Dr Pepper producing its products just one year after purchasing the property."
