Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford to Deliver Keynote Addresses at AFA Air, Space & Cyber Conference
ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Air Force Association (AFA) today announced Robert Work, Deputy Secretary of Defense and Gen Joseph Dunford Jr., Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as keynote speakers for the 2016 Air, Space & Cyber Conference. The premier conference will be held September 19-21, 2016 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
The Honorable Robert Work is the 32nd Deputy Secretary of Defense. From 2009 to 2013, Mr. Work served as the Undersecretary of the Navy. Mr. Work was a distinguished graduate of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Course at the University of Illinois, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps in August 1974. His military and civilian awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy Distinguished Civilian Service Award.
General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. is the 19th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was also the 36th Commandant of the Marine Corps. Gen Dunford is the first Marine Corps officer to serve in four different four-star positions the others include: Commander of the International Security Assistance Force and United States Forces-Afghanistan from February 2013 until August 2014 and as the 32nd Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps from October 23, 2010 to December 15, 2012.
General Dunford is slated to deliver his address on September 21st from 8:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. Deputy Secretary Work will also provide his keynote speech September 21st from 10:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
