Department of General Services to Sell 173 Vehicles at April 11 Auto Auction
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Department of General Services will auction off 173 state-owned vehicles on Monday, April 11, at the Manheim Central Penn Auto Auction, located at 488 Firehouse Road, Grantville, PA 17028.
The one-day auction will start at 10 a.m. Registration opens at 8 a.m. and closes at noon.
All revenue generated by the auction will be returned to the commonwealth.
"Auctions are an excellent way to generate revenue from vehicles no longer being used by state government," acting General Services Secretary Sheri Phillips said. "In addition, the public is given the opportunity to purchase a used vehicle at a fair market price."
Vehicles are those formerly used by state agencies or seized by state law enforcement agencies. The April 11 auction will include vehicles from manufacturers such as BMW, Cadillac, Mercedes, Ford, Chrysler, GMC, Chevrolet and others. In addition, there are all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and motorcycles by Honda and Ultra to be sold.
Manheim Auto Auctions will coordinate the auction. Buyers may purchase with cash or certified funds in the form of money orders, cashier's checks, certified checks or bank checks – all made payable to "Manheim Central Penn Auto Auction."
