RESTON, Va., July 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a FORTUNE 500® science and technology leader, was awarded a prime contract by the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy to provide engineering services for an energy and water savings program designed to promote the use of renewable energy technologies. The multiple-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract has a five-year base ordering period, an eighteen month option, and a total contract value of approximately $55 billion for all awardees. Leidos is one of 21 contractors eligible to compete for task orders under the program.
Energy savings performance contracts (ESPCs) allow federal agencies to procure energy savings and facility improvements with no up-front capital costs or special appropriations from Congress. Since the program inception in 1998 agencies have used the ESPC contracting vehicle to significantly reduce energy and operating costs and make progress toward meeting federal sustainability goals. Under the Department of Energy IDIQ ESPC Leidos will design, construct, and install an energy and water savings program intended to promote the use of renewable energy technologies, acquire energy and water conservation services, reduce energy or water consumption and associated utility costs, and reduce energy and water-related operations and maintenance costs.
"Leidos has demonstrated 25 years of successful energy services and engineering with manufacturing and industrial customers," said Leidos Group President Angie Heise. "We look forward to leveraging our commercial energy expertise to help the federal government reach its renewable energy mandates."
