Department of Community and Economic Development Simplifies Filing for Pennsylvania Municipalities
Local Governments Do Not Have to File on Their Own
HARRISBURG, Pa., July 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Community and Economic Development's Governor's Center for Local Government Services has filed notices on behalf of local governments and local government agencies that will save them the effort and expense of filing on their own.
Act 46 of 2010 requires that each local government publish notice in the PA Bulletin for the automatic extension of certain permits and other approvals issued for land development and building.
However, the Act 46 criteria for filing were met through DCED's Governor's Center for Local Government Services development of a single-filing for local government agencies. Local governments now do not have to file individually with the PA Bulletin.
The extension of permits notice will be published in the PA Bulletin on July 31.
Act 46 is intended to provide relief to builders and developers who, in the current recession, have often invested significant time and money to gain permits and approvals but have been unable to proceed due to tight financial markets and soft real estate markets. As the economy recovers and the credit crisis eases and borrowing opportunities increase, the automatic extension will permit developers to move forward with previously approved projects, without undue delay.
