DENVER, May 27, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As home to seven professional sports teams, more than 300 days of sunshine and endless opportunities to watch or participate in sporting events, Denver is considered a top sports destination. This summer, The Mile High City will host several new international events – including the first-ever U.S. stop for Festival International des Sports Extrêmes (FISE) – alongside home team games, solidifying its status as a true sports destination.
"Denver has long been known as a sports capital, attracting visitors who want to experience and participate in the outdoor urban adventure of the city, to those who want to enjoy watching one of our seven professional sports teams in action under blue skies at our gorgeous, world-class soccer and baseball stadiums," said Richard Scharf, president & CEO of VISIT DENVER, The Convention & Visitors Bureau. "But Denver is also a fantastic city for people to actually participate in sports and recreational activities, with 85 miles of paved bike trails and one of the nation's largest park systems. You can train on the steps of Red Rocks Amphitheatre, kayak through downtown on the South Platte River, or hike to the top of Lookout Mountain for the gorgeous view from Buffalo Bill's Grave, and still be in the City of Denver."

Professional Sports – Colorado Rockies and Colorado Rapids
Not only does Denver boast seven professional sports teams, those teams also play in some of the most stunning stadiums and arenas in the country. Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies host home games at Coors Field, a classic ballpark in the heart of downtown Denver with sweeping views of the city and Rocky Mountains and a new rooftop bar and patio. The Rockies' season runs from April through September, and schedules and tickets are available through the team's website. Tickets are very affordable, and "Behind the Seams" tours of Coors Field are also available Monday through Saturday during the season.
