Denver Pavilions Welcomes the DaVinci Machines Exhibition
DENVER, March 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The DaVinci Machines Exhibition will open at the Denver Pavilions March 31st, 2012. The museum-quality exhibition will be at the location next to H&M for a limited engagement until the end of September 2012. Denver is the third stop in the US for the exhibition.
The exhibition is on loan from the Museum of Leonardo DaVinci in Florence, Italy, and contains over 60 hand-crafted exhibits, half of which are interactive, all made by 3rd generation craftsmen. Each exhibit is a replica built from Leonardo's 500 year old designs. The exhibition is grouped into four themes: war machines, flying machines, nautical and hydraulic machines and mechanics. The interactive machines are a popular aspect of each exhibition as visitors can touch and handle these models to gain a first-hand appreciation of how they work. Explanatory notes and illustrative panels, with Leonardo's drawings from his codices, accompany each exhibit.
"We are so thrilled to have our exhibition at the Denver Pavilions," said Ali Rodgers, Museum Curator. "So far everyone has been embracing our exhibit and, out of every state, Colorado has shown the most interest."
Although this is the DaVinci Machines Exhibition, there are large graphic installations of different works of Leonardo's masterpieces on display. Additionally, for the first time in the world, the exhibition will feature a near life-size replica of the Last Supper the way Leonardo intended his masterpiece to be viewed.
"Denver has always been our top city choice to host the exhibition," said Olya Alexeyeva, Assistant Manager of the exhibition. "It feels like the exhibition was meant to come here."
DaVinci Machines is a ticketed exhibition. Children under 5 are free. Children 5-10 are $9. Students, military and seniors (55+) are $11. Adults are $14, and a Family Pack (up to 5 people) is $40. Group pricing is available for groups of 25 or more at $7 per person.
Admission hours for the exhibit are Tuesday-Thursday: 10am – 6pm; Friday-Saturday: 10am – 7pm, Sunday: noon– 6pm. The exhibit is closed Monday for private and group events.
Parking is accessible at Denver Pavilions' underground garage on Welton Street and surrounding surface lots. In addition, a special $5 valet parking deal is available nightly at 5pm with a same day purchase from any Denver Pavilions' merchant.
