Denver Pavilions New Holiday Carousel Attracts Visitors to Downtown Denver
DENVER, Nov. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Denver Pavilions is hosting a kickoff event for the Denver Pavilions Holiday Carousel on Friday, December 12, at 8:30 am. The event will be held at the carousel site, centrally located at Glenarm Place and 16th Street in Downtown Denver. Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock will be attending the event, which will feature inaugural carousel rides for 80 DPS choir students from Traylor Elementary and musical entertainment.
The Denver Pavilions' Holiday Carousel will be the first holiday carousel in the history of the 16th St. Mall. The carousel coincides with the city's strategic plans to stimulate the downtown retail economy as outlined in the Office of Economic Development's JumpStart 2014 initiative.
Since the idea was first proposed, organizations throughout the city have actively supported the carousel as a welcome addition to the city's holiday offerings. Partners include Visit Denver, the Office of Economic Development, the Downtown Denver Partnership, Denver Pavilions retailers, and several downtown hotels.
"The Denver Pavilions' Holiday Carousel promises to be a very popular attraction, one that will draw local and regional visitors to Denver Pavilions and the 16th Street Mall," said Gart Properties President Mark Sidell. "A beautiful, family-friendly holiday carousel for visitors of all ages will add a memorable dimension to the downtown Denver holiday experience."
Carousel rides will be offered for a nominal fee of $3 between December 12-21 between the hours of 11 am and 9 pm daily. However, there are several ways to obtain a free ride.
Food Bank of the Rockies has been chosen as Denver Pavilions' designated charity partner. As part of the Can for the Carousel program, free rides will be issued with non-perishable food donations throughout the carousel's operation. Denver Pavilions merchants, and select hotel partners and downtown businesses will also have free ride vouchers to distribute to customers and guests with purchase. In addition, free rides will be provided for those who donate to the Bonfils Blood Drive located by the carousel on Dec. 14 from 11am-3pm.
Denver Pavilions' Holiday Carousel complements additional holiday activities at the shopping center including performances from the a cappella group the Mistletones on Sat. Dec. 13 & 20 from 2-4 pm. Also, the Center will provide free photos with Santa on Dec. 14 & 21 from 1-3 pm. Hard Rock Cafe hosts a breakfast with Santa on Dec. 13, 14, 20 & Maggiano's Little Italy hosts Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 14th.
