Denver Pavilions Lands Flagship Uniqlo Store As Another First-To-Market Retailer in Colorado
Denver Pavilions' Flagship Uniqlo To Replace Barnes & Noble as Anchor Tenant. New Store Joins Denver Pavilions' Strong Merchant Mix Including Colorado's Largest H&M Store, Forever 21, Express, & Banana Republic Amongst Others.
DENVER, Oct. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Uniqlo, the popular global clothing retailer, will open its first and much-anticipated, flagship Rocky Mountain region store at Denver Pavilions on the 16th Street Mall in the heart of the city's downtown area. The store will open fall of 2016 in the space that will be vacated by Barnes & Noble.
Uniqlo's flagship store at Denver Pavilions featuring the brand's full assortment of mens', women's and children's lines is the only store planned in Colorado, underscoring the primacy of downtown Denver as a single location that serves the entire Denver Metro area and customers statewide.
The new store will take the place of Barnes & Noble, an original anchor store at Denver Pavilions. Barnes and Noble will close to the public on December 31, 2015. Uniqlo will begin construction after Barnes and Noble vacates.
"Introducing new global brands to Denver is a key component of Gart Properties' strategy for Denver Pavilions," said Mark Sidell, president of Gart Properties, which owns the Denver Pavilions with another Denver family. "Opening the flagship Uniqlo store in the Rocky Mountain Region is a big win for downtown Denver. It's sure to be a tourist attraction in addition to serving shoppers from all across the city and the state."
Since opening its first store in Japan in 1984, Uniqlo has built a worldwide presence, with 1,500 stores in Japan, Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the U.K. and the U.S. Uniqlo currently has 42 stores in the U.S. Uniqlo sells comfortable, affordable and stylish casual apparel for men, women and children in natural and synthetic fabrics engineered to perform in varying climates and weather conditions.
Denver Pavilions is already home to global trendy fashion retailer, H&M, which drew long lines of shoppers when it opened its first store in Colorado at Denver Pavilions in 2011. Uniqlo's upcoming opening comes amid strong leasing momentum at Denver Pavilions, including the third-level expansion of H&M to 30,000 square feet to accommodate H&M Home, a line only featured in 5 of the 42 US stores, major remodel of the 15-screen United Artists Theatre introducing luxury recliner seats and a new lounge with liquor service, plus the opening of Colorado's first Henry's Tavern, which features over 100 beers on tap.
Uniqlo is expected to strengthen the retail environment in downtown Denver and positively impact the downtown economy. In addition to creating local jobs, Uniqlo seeks to partner with local organizations and municipalities to give back to the communities where their customers live and work.
Customers and fans can share their excitement about the opening via the company's social media channels, using #UniqloDenver on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Uniqlo will also be recruiting to staff the new store. For more information on open positions, please visit http://jobs-uniqlo.com/sa/#.
