Dennis Griesing Retires as ACI Vice President, Government Affairs; Douglas Troutman Named VP and Counsel, Government Affairs
WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After 22 years as the American Cleaning Institute's (ACI) top lobbyist, Dennis Griesing is retiring as Vice President of Government Affairs.
He will be succeeded by Senior Director of Government Affairs Douglas Troutman, who was named Vice President and Counsel, Government Affairs, effective January 30.

Mr. Griesing came to ACI – then The Soap and Detergent Association – in January 1990 with a dozen years of professional government relations experience at the federal, state and local levels.During his tenure at ACI, Dennis advocated on numerous issues for the cleaning product supply chain, including reform of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), phosphate defense, packaging, advertising issues, eco-labeling, and environmentally preferable procurement, among many others.
Douglas Troutman joined ACI in 2007 as Director of Government Affairs, coming from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Inc.'s Washington, D.C. office, where he was Senior Manager, Legislative Affairs. He previously worked as Senior Manager, Government Relations, at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association in Arlington, Virginia. Mr. Troutman was a legislative aide to U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (PA) from 1992 to 1996. He later worked as Associate Vice President at Newmyer Associates in Arlington, Virginia and served as a law clerk in the Delaware County, Pennsylvania District Attorney's Office.
Mr. Troutman earned his J.D. from the Villanova University School of Law, and his B.A. in International Affairs and Russian Studies from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey.
Jacob Cassady rounds out the ACI Government Affairs team. He has served as Manager of Government Affairs since 2010.
