Deniece Fields is Selected as the New Executive Director of Acelero Learning Milwaukee County
MILWAUKEE, May 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Deniece Fields has been selected to fill the position of Executive Director for the Acelero Learning Milwaukee County Head Start program. In this position, Ms. Fields will oversee the program's eight Head Start centers serving more than 800 children and families. For the past four years, Ms. Fields has been the Director of the Young Women's Leadership Charter School (YWLCS) of Chicago and has guided it in preparing and inspiring young women leaders of today and tomorrow. Under her leadership, YWLCS achieved Adequate Yearly Progress over a three year period, and the school's charter was renewed for another five years with no conditions. Ms. Fields was recently recognized with the first Principal Achievement Award from the Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emmanuel, as one of Chicago's 82 principals who are making "exceptional growth." Only ten high schools and nine charter schools were awarded this honor.
Ms. Fields is a graduate of the Milwaukee Public School System and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Ms. Fields began her career with the Milwaukee Public School system as a middle school English Language Arts teacher and went on to become the National Reading/Writing Curriculum Coordinator for Edison Schools. She then served as Assistant Principal and Principal of the Confluence Academy Old North Campus in St. Louis for four years, leading a staff of 90 members and over 1,000 students.
