BOSTON, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Eight candidates running to be the next Governor of Massachusetts appeared together in "We All Agree," a video released today by the non-profit AdMeTech Foundation, creator of The Manogram® Project. The video highlights the need for increased prostate cancer education and awareness in the Commonwealth, and was produced in connection with the upcoming 6th Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Day at the State House.
Joe Avellone (D), Charlie Baker (R), Martha Coakley (D), Evan Falchuck (I), Mark Fisher (R), Steve Grossman (D), Juliette Kayyem (D) and Jeff McCormick (I) voiced their support in the video for creating a Massachusetts model of national leadership in prostate cancer education and awareness.
Striking as many as one in seven men, prostate cancer is the most common and the second most lethal malignancy. AdMeTech's Manogram® Project is dedicated to creating accurate diagnostic tools, akin to life-saving mammograms, for screening, early detection and treatment, which are critical for saving lives.
"Prostate cancer is a public health crisis, particularly in men with African American heritage and family history of this disease," said Dr. Faina Shtern, President and CEO of AdMeTech Foundation. "I applaud the candidates for participating in 'We All Agree'. This video underscores the goal of Prostate Cancer Awareness Day by encouraging men to take charge of their health care. Together, we will bring cutting edge advances in patient care and research from Massachusetts' world-leading hospitals to every man in our state, including the most vulnerable and the underserved."
The 6th Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Day, hosted by AdMeTech, will be held on June 19 between 10:00 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Grand Staircase of the State House. This event will feature Senate President Therese Murray, House Speaker Robert DeLeo, Boston Mayor Martin Walsh, Department of Public Health Commissioner Cheryl Bartlett, marathon legend and prostate cancer survivor Bill Rogers, and Dr. Adam Kibel, Professor and Chief of Urology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School.
