ARLINGTON, Texas, June 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Demilec's Sealection 500 open-cell spray foam insulation is now approved through third-party testing for use in unvented attics without an ignition barrier, eliminating the need for contractors to add a secondary ignition barrier in those applications. When installing spray foam insulation in an unvented attic, a contractor needs only to follow the requirements of Intertek CCRR 1063 issued for Sealection 500, certifying the testing for this assembly.
"We are committed to providing products that serve our customers' needs, as well as to help them save time and money on the jobsite. Being able to spray Sealection 500 in an unvented attic without an ignition barrier is a key element in broadening an already strong open-cell product line for builders, contractors and property owners," said Douglas Brady, Vice President of Strategic Marketing at Demilec, one of North America's largest manufacturers of spray foam insulation and polyurea products.
Demilec now has two options for spraying open-cell without an ignition barrier: Sealection 500 for unvented attics and APX 1.2 for those assemblies needing a traditional ACC 377 Appendix X certification.
Sealection 500 is a cutting-edge formula of open-cell spray foam insulation that expands 120 times its liquid volume to insulate and seal all cracks, gaps and joints with a single application at an R-value of 3.81 at 1 inch. The product is engineered with increased energy efficiency, cutting heating and cooling costs as much as 50 percent for property owners. This high-performing product also increases sustainability for residents and occupants by withholding ozone-depleting chemicals like gases, fibers and asbestos.
