NEW YORK and SAN MATEO, Calif., Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- DemandTec, Inc. (Nasdaq: DMAN), the collaborative optimization network for retailers and consumer products companies, today announced that Eric Rosenthal and Xiyu Wang from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in Manlius, N.Y. have won the Grand Championship final of the fifth annual DemandTec Retail Challenge, a nationwide math and science college scholarship competition for high school seniors. Each member of the Grand Championship winning team received a college scholarship during Monday's closing bell ceremony at NASDAQ OMX Stock Market in New York City.
This year, 334 students, divided into two-person teams, participated in the DemandTec Retail Challenge. All finalists participated in the NASDAQ closing bell ceremony, with the winning team ringing the closing bell.
"The DemandTec Retail Challenge has awarded more than $100,000 in college scholarships this year and more than $250,000 since its inception. Next year, we intend to expand from thirteen Regional rounds into additional regions across the United States, providing even more students with college scholarships and promoting practical experience for math and science skills," said Marc Dietz, Vice President of Marketing for DemandTec.
