DemandTec Draws Leading Retailers and Manufacturers to DemandBetter 2011
Ninth annual event features record breaking attendance, unveils new services and programs, and reveals winners of the DemandTec Innovation Awards
SAN MATEO, Calif., May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- DemandTec, Inc. (NASDAQ: DMAN), the collaborative optimization network for retailers and consumer products companies, today announced record breaking attendance for its ninth annual DemandBetter global customer conference, which was held from May 9 through May 11 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. DemandBetter 2011 attracted a strong turnout of retail and consumer products companies and an ecosystem of partners signifying the importance of collaborative business decision-making on the network. DemandTec also announced that DemandBetter 2012 will return to the Palace Hotel April 30-May 2, 2012.
Underscoring the conference theme "Join the Revolution," DemandBetter 2011 highlighted the importance of shopper insights, collaborative planning, and critical business decisions that define how the DemandTec network and user community creates value. DemandBetter 2011 featured two keynote presentations, 16 breakout sessions broken into four distinct tracks, six training sessions, the DemandTec Solutions Showcase, Customer Advisory Board meetings, and several peer networking activities.
DemandTec President and Chief Executive Officer Dan Fishback kicked off the event on Tuesday outlining the company's significant product development milestones, corporate philanthropy, and acquisitions during the past 12 months, while Marc Dietz, Vice President of Marketing, gave a live demonstration of the latest enhancements to the DemandTec network, showcasing the integration of social business context and new partner services. Don Peppers, acclaimed author and a founding partner of Peppers & Rogers Group, delivered Tuesday's keynote address focusing on how to develop a customer-centric approach to managing business and collaborating with trading partners through social channels. On Wednesday, Hugo Bethlem, Executive Vice President of Grupo Pao de Acucar, presented a novel approach to using corporate sustainability as a marketing tool to attract new customers, retain existing ones, and grow profitable sales.
Other key highlights and announcements made during DemandBetter 2011 include:
- DemandTec announced a partnership with the Labovitz School of Business & Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) to support the university's new Retail Marketing Analytics Program (ReMAP). As the first program of its kind, ReMAP will be offered as an undergraduate major and minor area of study through LSBE at UMD. ReMAP will provide undergraduate UMD students with an educational curriculum that can be directly applied to rewarding careers in the retail and consumer products industries.
- DemandTec announced the winners of the inaugural DemandTec Innovation Awards at the Tuesday evening banquet. This annual, global awards program that recognizes the best uses of DemandTec's software and analytical services by retailers and consumer products companies. For retailers, the Business Enablement award went to FreshDirect, LLC and the Most Revolutionary awards went to Grupo Pao de Acucar and Target Corporation. On the consumer products side, the winners were Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. for Business Enablement and General Mills for Most Revolutionary.
- DemandTec announced an expansion of its patent portfolio to 30 U.S. and international patents reflecting reflects advancements in science and modeling techniques.
- DemandTec announced that Tops Markets, LLC, a leading grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, has renewed its subscription to multiple DemandTec pricing and promotion software services on the network.
