NEW YORK, Feb. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) and amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, today announced a new global partnership designating Delta as the Official Airline of amfAR in 2011. The partnership aligns the carrier with one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy.

Delta will join amfAR at tomorrow's amfAR New York Gala, where the organization will officially announce the partnership. Through the agreement, Delta will support events both domestically as well as some of Delta's key international markets, including São Paulo, Paris, Milan and Nice.

Originally formed as a union between the AIDS Medical Foundation in New York and the National AIDS Research Foundation in Los Angeles, amfAR awarded its first research grants in 1986. In 2011, amfAR commemorates its 25th year at the forefront of the global struggle against HIV/AIDS.
