$10 million renovation delivers city's first 4-star upscale, full service hotel
KINGSTON, ON, July 15, 2013 /CNW/ - Delta Hotels and Resorts is proud to announce the official opening of the Delta Kingston Waterfront Hotel in Kingston, Ontario. The hotel has undergone an extensive $10 million renovation to completely revamp the property, showcasing Delta's reinvigorated brand through modern design and innovation. The newly repositioned hotel will deliver the city's first 4-star upscale, full-service hotel.
"We are excited to bring Delta's 4-star upscale hotel experience to one of the best locations in Kingston," said Ken Greene, President and CEO, Delta Hotels and Resorts. "The property's prime waterfront and downtown location is what sets it apart from the competition, and the renovation has repositioned the hotel as a product leader in the local marketplace. We are thrilled to offer our guests one of the most modern, innovative and thoughtfully designed hotels in the city."
The Delta Kingston Waterfront hotel boasts 126 ModeRoom™ guest rooms and suites; a completely redesigned lobby and the creation of an open space business area featuring a series of interactive, fully connected work hubs and lounge areas; and 5,000 square feet of newly revamped meeting and conference space. The onsite restaurant, AquaTerra by Clark was also fully renovated to include multi-functional and flexible spaces which offer panoramic waterfront views.
"The renovation is an important evolution for the hotel," said Greg Bell, General Manager, Delta Kingston Waterfront Hotel. "Delta is well known for its high level of service excellence and we are excited to deliver the upscale Delta experience to our guests."
ModeRoom™ Guest Rooms
The renovation includes a complete redesign of the hotel's 126 guest rooms, all of which provide a waterfront view. The new guest rooms provide spaces that are modern, adaptable and filled with technology features aimed at today's highly design-conscious travellers, who want to live, work and connect on their own terms. The new guest room design, called ModeRoom™, is inspired by the Canadian landscape, with fresh and modern colour palettes and a focus on maximizing natural light. The rooms balance functionality and adaptability - as exemplified by the SmartDesk, a fully-wired, multi-purpose area that provides guests with a clutter-free space, built-in power and connectivity dock, and links from your laptop and mobile devices to the flat screen high definition TV.
The room design also features subtle and thoughtful touches to help guests feel at home. From conveniently placed shelves and hooks in the entry way, to pinpoint reading lights in the headboard, to custom bathroom vanities that leave lots of space for guest belongings, to bedside plug-ins for your smartphone device, the newly designed guest rooms give travellers a sense of comfort that is easily adapted to suit their needs. The rooms also feature philosophy amenities skin care products.
The guest rooms are being offered in three categories - Mode, ModeDeluxe, and ModeSuites. The ModeSuites rooms will offer upgraded services and amenities including turndown service.
Business Hubs, Meeting Spaces and Lounge Areas
Replacing the typical hotel business centre, a portion of the lobby has been transformed into a series of interactive, fully connected work hubs and lounge areas that can be used for small banquets, breakout rooms and receptions. The space includes two boardrooms that were built right on the water's edge, to provide a floating feel. The top floor meeting space underwent an expansion to accommodate larger groups, and provides panoramic views of the downtown waterfront.
Elevated Dining at AquaTerra by Clark
AquaTerra is a contemporary waterfront fine dining restaurant that was re-designed to include multi-functional and flexible spaces in addition to the main dining area. The restaurant offers flexible rooms that can act as a fully private area or open up to the lobby for a more social space. The modern restaurant also provides a large harvest table with plug-ins for laptops and smartphone devices allowing guests to work and connect while they dine.
The award-winning food and beverage team will continue to be led by Clark Day and Chef de Cuisine Brent McAllister. The restaurant has been recognized by the VQA awards of excellence and recommended in the popular culinary guide "Where to Eat in Canada". Menu items, reservations and more information about AquaTerra can be found at www.aquaterrabyclark.com and you can follow AquaTerra on Twitter @AquaTerraYGK or on facebook.com/aquaterrakingston.
