Delta ID Powers Iris Recognition in Fujitsu's 2nd Smartphone for NTT DOCOMO
NEWARK, Calif., Oct. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta ID Inc., a company focused on bringing secure and convenient biometric authentication to mobile and PC devices, announced its ActiveIRIS® technology powers the iris recognition feature of Fujitsu's smartphone, the arrows NX F-02H launched by NTT DOCOMO, INC in Japan. The arrows NX F-02H is the second smartphone to include iris recognition technology, after a very successful introduction of this technology in ARROWS NX F-04G in May 2015, world's first smartphone to have this capability.
Delta ID's patent-pending ActiveIRIS® makes the iris in our eyes a unique and secret "password" that we never have to remember. With ActiveIRIS® technology, users can just look at their device to unlock it. Beyond the device unlock, NTT DOCOMO also uses iris recognition technology to authenticate mobile payments, and enable access to a range of online services.
"Our customers love the iris recognition feature of the ARROWS NX F-04G smartphone," said Katsumi Takada, Head of Mobile Phones Business Unit, Fujitsu Limited. "Fujitsu was the first to bring the convenience and security of iris recognition to smartphones, and we are now adding it to our new arrows NX F-02H smartphone."
The iris is widely accepted as a more secure and reliable modality to identify and authenticate people. The iris works for people across broader age groups, occupations. Additionally, the iris, being an internal organ, remains unaffected by external conditions.
Delta ID has made remarkable advances in making iris recognition technology ready for mass market consumer mobile devices and applications. Its ActiveIRIS® technology combines advanced software algorithm with simple, inexpensive, easy to integrate hardware to make iris recognition fast and reliable in conditions and scenarios where users typically use their mobile devices.
"We are thrilled to see consumers adopting and using our iris recognition solution," said Salil Prabhakar, President and CEO of Delta ID. "We believe our iris recognition solution brings the best of both security and convenience to smartphones, and smartphone enabled applications and services," he added.
