New CEO introduces redesigned property as reflective of Delta's reinvigorated brand
OTTAWA, Nov. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Delta Hotels and Resorts announced today that the Delta Ottawa City Centre has officially completed its multi-million dollar renovation. The redevelopment includes a full reconfiguration of the hotel's public spaces, newly designed guestrooms and showcases Delta Hotels and Resorts reinvigorated brand through modern design and innovations.
"This renovation represents a transformation for the Delta Ottawa City Centre and a sign of things to come for the entire Delta Hotels and Resorts brand as a whole," said Ken Greene, President & CEO, Delta Hotels and Resorts. "The renovation signals the launch of a reinvigorated brand that will be reflected philosophically and structurally throughout Delta properties across Canada. I look forward to having these new designs and guest offerings introduced at all of our hotels over the next few years."
The unveiling of the repositioned Delta Ottawa City Centre showcases 410 ModeRoom™ guest rooms and suites which are modern, innovative and thoughtfully designed; a completely redesigned lobby with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide lots of natural light; the creation of an open space business area featuring a series of interactive, fully connected work hubs and lounge areas; and 26,000 square feet of newly revamped meeting and conference space including a 10,000 square foot ballroom which is one of the largest in the city. The Delta Ottawa City Centre is now home to LIFT, a new full service restaurant and lounge designed to encourage relaxation and interaction with a modern and contemporary design that creates a comfortable, yet elegant dining experience.
"This comprehensive renovation has repositioned the Delta Ottawa City Centre as a product leader within the local hotel market," says Peter Gillis, General Manager, Delta Ottawa City Centre. "We are excited to offer our guests one of the most modern, innovative and thoughtfully-designed hotels in the city."
Extensive structural changes were implemented, the most significant of which involved the removal of the hotel's original ramp which replaced the second floor entrance with an attractive street-level presence creating an enhanced sense of arrival. The lobby, front desk, concierge and bellman, previously located on the second floor, have been relocated to the first floor providing direct access to the street-level.
ModeRoom™ Guestrooms
The renovation included a complete redesign of the hotel's 410 guestrooms to provide spaces that are modern, adaptable and filled with technology features aimed at today's highly design-conscious travelers, who want to live, work and connect on their own terms. The new guestroom design, called ModeRoom™, is inspired by the Canadian landscape, with fresh and modern colour palettes and a focus on maximizing natural light. The rooms balance functionality and adaptability - as exemplified by the SmartDesk™, a fully-wired, multi-purpose area that provides guests with a clutter-free space, built-in power and connectivity dock, and links from your laptop and mobile devices to the flat screen high definition TV.
The room design also features subtle and thoughtful touches to help guests feel at home. From conveniently placed shelves and hooks in the entry way, to pinpoint reading lights in the headboard, to custom bathroom vanities that leave lots of space for guest belongings, to bedside plug-ins for your smartphone devices, the newly designed guestrooms give travelers a sense of comfort that is easily adapted to suit their needs. The rooms also feature philosophy® amenities skin care products.
The guestrooms are being offered in four categories - Mode, ModeDeluxe, ModeClub and ModeSuites. The ModeClub and ModeSuites rooms will offer upgraded services and amenities including turndown service and exclusive access to a newly-renovated private lounge featuring evening hors d'oeuvres and deluxe continental breakfast.
Business Hubs and Lounge Areas
Replacing the typical hotel business centre, a portion of the second floor has been transformed into a series of interactive, fully connected work hubs and lounge areas that encourage interaction and provide personal work space. Whether guests are in groups or traveling alone, the naturally-lit open space is designed with several areas to sit, connect, interact and relax. The space includes private lounge areas with sofas and tables, designated work stations, an area with TV and couches, a large boardroom style table with group seating, and wide open lounge areas where guests can use laptops and work comfortably at any time.
Elevated Dining at Lift
LIFT is a fabulous restaurant that is designed to encourage relaxation and interaction. Natural elements like stone, wood and fire have been fused with contemporary and modern designs to create a comfortable, yet elegant dining experience. The open and modern space features an interactive chef's station and sommelier table. The most interesting feature is the interactive chef table where Executive Chef, Christopher Marz prepares small bite-size dishes in front of patrons at the bar. Menu items, reservations and more information about LIFT can be found at www.liftrestaurant.ca and you can follow LIFT on Twitter at @liftrestaurant.
Renovations were overseen by Delta and comprised a multi-discipline team including international design firm HOK, with construction handled by Kanata based Quest Project Management Inc. and Toronto-based Shurway Contracting Limited, with project management by ADVENTpds.
