Delta Faucet Company to Help Americans Save Millions of Gallons of Water
2011 WaterSense® Manufacturer Partner of the Year leading water efficiency makeovers in more than 1,900 units nationwide during 4th annual Fix a Leak Week
INDIANAPOLIS, March 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Faucet Company has teamed up with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in connection with its WaterSense program to support the agency's fourth annual Fix a Leak Week campaign, March 12-18. Delta Faucet will host events in nine cities nationwide to address leaks and help save water in community facilities and low-income households by replacing inefficient plumbing fixtures with new, water-efficient showerheads, toilet flappers and faucet aerators.
Volunteers in nine cities across the country – Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle – will retrofit more than 1,900 units with new plumbing fixtures over the course of a week for an estimated savings of more than 7 million gallons of water annually. WaterSense-labeled showerheads, flowing at a water-efficient rate of 2.0 gallons per minute (gpm), have been donated by Delta Faucet. In addition, BrassCraft Manufacturing, a leading plumbing supplier, has donated new toilet flappers for the project, which can be a common cause for leaks in toilets, and Neoperl, Inc., an innovator in flow control solutions, will supply WaterSense-labeled aerators at each installation site to promote water efficiency in existing faucets.
"Delta Faucet Company places a high priority on providing products that address the performance needs for both water efficiency and user experience," said Richard O'Reagan, president of Delta Faucet Company. "We value our relationship with the WaterSense program and maintain our commitment to educating consumers about the importance of water conservation. Through our Fix a Leak Week tour, we hope to establish a precedent that will benefit communities now and for generations to come."
WaterSense, a partnership program of the EPA, aims to protect the future of the U.S. water supply by providing people with easy and identifiable ways to conserve water. In addition, it helps consumers make smart water choices in order to maintain high environmental standards and save money without compromising performance.
"Across the country, household leaks add up to more than 1 trillion gallons of water annually. The amount we're losing could supply Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami for a full year," said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson. "We're not just losing water, we're also losing the money our communities put into keeping our water clean and healthy. That's why Fix a Leak Week is so important, and why we encourage everyone to take a few simple steps that can add up to have a significant positive impact."
