Delta Faucet Celebrates The Maker Movement
Delta Faucet to exhibit at 2012 Maker Faires to emphasize its commitment to innovation
INDIANAPOLIS, May 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta® is a brand steeped in innovation and sustained by a fleet of makers. Delta Faucet Company has been reveling in the recent surge of the maker movement and today announced its plan to celebrate makers across America.
"The maker movement is fueled by creative and curious people who create, innovate and provide value to the community," said Cathy Roper, director of the Delta brand. "Delta Faucet aims to connect with these people who share the company's passion for innovating and creating."
In essence, the maker audience is an extension of the do-it-yourself (DIY) culture, with a strong connection to technology and software innovation. The widespread popularity of grassroots maker events and significant growth of social media networking sites such as Pinterest and Etsy provide a platform for makers to share their creations with others in a more public forum than previously possible. In turn, the increased buzz about makers appears to inspire more to join the movement.
To kick off its celebration of makers, Delta Faucet will join nearly 100,000 makers at Make Magazine's annual Bay Area Maker Faire event May 19-20. There, Delta Faucet will showcase some of its recent faucet innovations in an exhibit designed to invite faire goers to interact, tinker and, in some cases, attempt to destroy.
"Our vision is to produce innovative solutions that provide people with a better way to experience water," said Bob Rodenbeck, director of research and development at Delta Faucet Company. "To do that, we spend a lot of time researching and testing new products and technologies. We understand how challenging, yet exciting and rewarding the process can be and we see this program as a great way for us to recognize others who are also driven by the same curiosity and opportunity to invent or make."
Delta Faucet will host similar activities at the New York Maker Faire from September 29-30 and plans to dedicate marketing efforts in 2012 to celebrating the maker movement, including recognizing makers from within the organization.
