Delta Dental Community Care Foundation Awards $400,000 to MCR Health to Expand Dental Care for Children in Manatee County
PALMETTO, Fla., Dec. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation today announced it awarded MCR Health a $418,512 grant to purchase new dental equipment, supplies and technology to support its expansion in Manatee County and surrounding areas.
In addition to health and wellness services, MCR Health provides dental care and treatment to nearly 10,000 low-income patients in Manatee, Sarasota and Desoto Counties. The grant from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation will help meet the increasing oral health needs of children from the communities in which MCR operates.
"Opening a new site in East Bradenton will enable us to better serve our patient population, said Patrick Carnegie, MCR Health president and CEO. "Children in our underserved community will now have access to full-service dental care, some for the first time in their lives. Our community is in dire need of additional pediatric dental facilities. With this award, we can provide excellent dental care for those who need it most. The grant is one of 34 given in Florida by the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to help improve the oral health of disadvantaged children and adults by removing barriers to quality dental care. Since its inception in 2011, the Foundation has awarded more than $3.2 million in grants to organizations throughout Florida.
