Delta Dental Community Care Foundation Awards $150,000 Grant to Winn Community Health Center

WINNFIELD, La., Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation announced today it awarded Winn Community Health Center a $150,000 grant to support its purchase of a mobile dental unit to serve school-aged children in Bienville, Grant, Winn, and Lincoln Parishes in Louisiana.

Winn CHC, Inc., is a Federal Qualified Health Center that serves nearly 15,000 individuals throughout North Central Louisiana, and provides much needed oral health services to students in all schools in Bienville and Winn Parish as well as five schools in Grant Parish. In the near future Winn CHC will initiate oral health services in its Lincoln location located in Ruston. 

"We have partnered with the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation for the last three years to provide more oral health services to the uninsured and underserved at our various delivery sites," said Deano Thornton, CEO of Winn CHC.  "The recent grant award of $150,000 from Delta Dental will enable our organization to utilize these funds to assist in the purchasing of a mobile dental unit that will travel to schools in underserved parishes of North Central Louisiana where we do not have dental services and provide needed preventive and restorative care to children and adolescents that would never have access.  We are greatly appreciative and thankful to Delta Dental for this grant and we look forward to our continued collaboration to provide oral health services to the underserved population of North Central Louisiana."

The grant is one of 18 given in Louisiana this year by the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to help improve the oral health of disadvantaged children and adults by removing barriers to quality dental care.  Since its inception in 2011, the Foundation has awarded more than $2 million in grants to organizations throughout Louisiana.
