TRACY, Calif., Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation announced today it awarded Community Medical Centers, Inc., (CMC) a $105,318 grant to expand its dental clinic in Tracy, California, that has experienced strong attendance since its opening in February.
CMC is a network of 18 neighborhood health centers serving over 85,000 patients in San Joaquin, Solano and Yolo Counties. Phase One of the Tracy Dental Facility's construction was also supported by a Delta Dental Community Care Foundation grant, which supported the initial six dental chairs and equipment. The latest funding from Delta Dental enables CMC to add another six chairs, for a total of 12. This additional capacity at the 2135 N. Tracy Boulevard location will make a big difference in a community facing a shortage of dental providers and an increase in population.
"We are so excited to be able to expand access to dental services in the community, especially for the children of Tracy," said Christine Noguera, CMC's Chief Executive Officer. "Preventive dental care is so important for overall health and wellbeing."
"We're thrilled to collaborate with Community Medical Centers and support its expansion in the San Joaquin Valley," said Karen Robinson, vice president of corporate affairs for Delta Dental and executive director of the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation. "Our foundation is committed to improving oral health in underserved communities, and we're proud to partner with Community Medical Centers to help expand dental care services, which will benefit the community for years to come."
The grant is one of 66 given in California this year by the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to help improve the oral health of disadvantaged children and adults by removing barriers to quality dental care. Since its inception in 2011, the Foundation has awarded nearly $5.5 million in grants to organizations throughout California.
