Delta Community's High School Apprentice Program Benefits Students, Communities
Credit Union Provides Job Training, Career Opportunities and Competitive Pay
ATLANTA, July 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Community Credit Union (www.DeltaCommunityCU.com), Georgia's largest credit union with assets of $4.8 billion, announces continued growth of its High School Apprentice Program, which provides students in metro Atlanta schools with job training, competitive pay and career opportunities.
Since Delta Community began its program in 2006, the number of participants has grown steadily, reaching 18 this year. Of the 16 participants in the 2014 program, 13 returned to work as adults at Delta Community.
"I learned about the financial services industry, and also about customer service and teamwork," said Shelby Montpas, a full-time electronic funds specialist. "My apprenticeship in 2011 brought focus to my career goals and has made me a better student as I work toward my college degree."
In return, the Apprentice Program gives Delta Community a well trained workforce, new members, and a renewed spirit of community involvement.
"The Apprentice Program aligns with our commitment to community involvement by providing job training, work experience and a career path for motivated students," said Senior Vice President of Human Resources Suzanne Mitchell. "It also gives Delta Community's front-line employees added support, which results in better service for our members."
Students currently enrolled in the Apprentice Program will complete the same training as other newly-hired employees before beginning jobs in various Delta Community branches. Students interested in enrolling in the Apprentice Program in 2016 should contact their school's Work Based Learning coordinator for more information.
