WASHINGTON, May 10, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Automotive Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Auto-ISAC) welcomes Delphi Automotive, PLC as its first original equipment supplier member. This membership marks the expansion of Auto-ISAC beyond its core membership of automobile manufacturers to include Tier 1 suppliers.
"We are pleased to have Delphi join in the proactive, collaborative efforts of Auto-ISAC," said Tom Stricker of Toyota, who serves as the organization's Chair. "The design and engineering of vehicle components and modules by suppliers is critical to the security of the vehicle as a whole. Delphi's membership in Auto-ISAC will help the industry continue to produce more advanced vehicles with modern and robust security protections incorporated from conception."
Auto-ISAC was formed in July 2015 in a collective effort by the auto industry to establish a secure platform for sharing, tracking and analyzing intelligence about cyber threats and potential vulnerabilities. Auto-ISAC operates as a central hub that allows members to anonymously submit and receive information to help them more effectively counter cyber threats in real time. Currently, Auto-ISAC members account for more than 98 percent of light-duty vehicles on the road in North America.
"Our membership in Auto-ISAC demonstrates our commitment to the auto industry to holistically address cybersecurity. We bring multiple layers of knowledge to the initiative by considering all aspects of an interconnected vehicle and associated brought-in and embedded technology including software, hardware and the architecture that connects the vehicle to ensure a safer and secure driving environment," said Jeff Owens, Chief Technology Officer, Delphi. "We look forward to collaborating with the industry to advance cybersecurity protections."
Delphi is a high tech company that integrates safer, greener and more connected solutions for the automotive sector. With Delphi's addition, and the possibility of adding additional supplier members, Auto-ISAC will continue to enhance the industry's on-going efforts to safeguard vehicle electronic systems and networks.
