HOUSTON, April 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Deloitte, the largest professional services organization in the United States, today announced the appointment of Andrew Slaughter as its new executive director for The Deloitte Center for Energy Solutions.
Slaughter brings 25 years of experience as an oil and gas professional occupying senior roles in both major oil and gas companies and consulting/advisory firms to the position, where he will work closely with Deloitte's Energy & Resources leadership to define, implement and manage the execution of the Center strategy, develop and drive energy research initiatives, manage the development of the Center's eminence and thought leadership, and support energy leadership.
"Since its formation in March of 2009, the Center has been a forum for our clients and Deloitte executives to collaborate on complex industry challenges," said John McCue, vice chairman, and U.S. Energy & Resources leader, Deloitte LLP. "We look forward to the Center continuing to expand its strong legacy of offering groundbreaking industry research and perspectives under the direction of Andrew."
Prior to joining Deloitte, Slaughter was vice president, Energy Insight, at IHS Inc., where he managed 200 oil and gas upstream research professionals engaged in producing ongoing research services and customized research projects for commercial clients. Before working at IHS Inc., Slaughter worked as business environment manager, upstream at Shell Americas Exploration & Production Company, and was the leader of the Resource and Supply Task Group for the U.S. National Petroleum Council, an industry advisory group to the U.S. Department of Energy.
Andrew Slaughter is based in Houston. He holds a bachelor's degree in French and Hispanic studies from the University of Liverpool, U.K. and an MBA from the University of Liverpool Business School, U.K.
"There is strong demand for strategic counsel and direction, given the energy industry is facing new and challenging economic, market and policy conditions – from the transformation of the utility sector, to the impact of the oil downturn on shale development and increasingly complex deep-water projects," said Slaughter. "I am excited to join Deloitte during this pivotal time and look forward to continuing the Center's important work and further deepening our relationships within the industry."
