SAN FRANCISCO, July 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Deloitte has appointed Teresa Briggs a vice chairman of Deloitte LLP and regional managing partner of its West region. In her role, Briggs drives Deloitte's national strategy for client and business growth and strategic positioning in the local markets across an eight-state region that includes 14 offices and more than 7,000 Deloitte professionals.

Briggs has been with Deloitte for more than 30 years and has served in both local and national leadership positions. She has been the managing partner for Deloitte's Bay Area practice for more than a year following five years as the managing partner in Silicon Valley. Throughout her career, Briggs spent six years as an audit partner, two years as a mergers & acquisitions partner, and four years as deputy managing partner of clients & markets. Briggs succeeds Mark Edmunds, vice chairman and managing partner, who will continue to be based in the Bay Area and lead Deloitte services for a major global client.

She is also an executive committee member of the Bay Area Council and a senior fellow with the American Leadership Forum.
Briggs is a graduate of the University of Arizona. On behalf of Deloitte and as a first generation college graduate herself, she recently accepted an award for the support and commitment to enabling young people access to education from local San Francisco non-profit First Graduate. This was the first time an organization received the honor. Briggs is a TWIN Award Honoree and has been named both San Francisco (2012, 2013) and Silicon Valley Woman of Influence by the American City Business Journals. She currently resides in San Mateo with her 13-year-old son.
