NEW YORK, Feb. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For the fifth consecutive year, Deloitte is working with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) to connect world-renowned athletes with students at 10 college campuses across the nation. During the "Team USA Road Show: It's Your Race, Take the Lead", U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes will inspire and motivate students by sharing their stories of high performance, ambition and passion.
Beginning Feb. 3, the eight-week roadshow will feature athletes such as U.S. Olympic medalists Evan Lysacek (figure skating), Elana Meyers Taylor (bobsled) and Marlen Esparza (boxing); and Paralympic gold medalist Brad Snyder (swimming). Students will hear each athlete's stories of triumph as well as adversity in their fight for the gold.
"The tour name, 'It's Your Race, Take the Lead,' mirrors Deloitte's commitment to being an organization that values leadership, drive and resolve," said Patty Pogemiller, director, Deloitte Services LP, and national talent acquisition and mobility leader. "Our culture empowers all of our people to 'Take the Lead' by focusing on their strengths and passions to build rewarding careers and deliver exceptional service to our clients. Our values are exemplified by Olympians and Paralympians. We're proud to host the Road Show again this year."
Deloitte is one of the nation's largest campus recruiters. The organization is committed to hiring 20,000 professionals by the end of fiscal year 2015 (May 31, 2015), including more than 10,000 campus hires (full-time/interns). To fill its increasing talent needs, Deloitte takes a unique approach to recruiting by focusing on identifying high-potential talent from schools across the country early and cultivating deep relationships with them in an effort to fill the talent pipeline. Outside of the "Team USA Road Show," campus initiatives include sponsoring case competitions through the Deloitte Foundation and hosting events like the "Deloitte National Leadership Conference" to introduce students to career paths at the organization and skills they can build on while they're in school.
"Deloitte's values of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership in action are exhibited by every U.S. Olympian and Paralympian," said Lisa Baird, chief marketing officer, USOC. "We are excited to be able to continue our relationship with Deloitte and facilitate these inspiring forums with our athletes and students nationwide."
As the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes prepare for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Deloitte's sponsorship provides the USOC with professional services and insight to help it give Team USA the resources and support it needs to compete. Deloitte has been a proud supporter of the USOC since 2009 and serves as the Official Professional Services Sponsor of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams through 2020.
