Brian Ballard, chief executive officer of APX Labs said, "Our teams, through this alliance, will bring the people, products and processes required to provide leading businesses with the right technologies and practical implementation experience to use smart glasses in important business scenarios."
As a part of this alliance, Deloitte will create immersive client demonstration centers to help clients better understand wearable technologies and apply the technology to business challenges. The Washington, D.C. center will launch in March with four additional centers to debut over the next year in New York, Chicago, San Jose and Atlanta. Clients from a range of industry sectors will get hands-on exposure to integrated smart glasses solutions for manufacturing, warehousing, field service, supply chain and other crucial business functions. The immersive environments will incorporate technology, process reengineering and change management methodologies into solution sessions for executive leadership teams to formulate and execute new initiatives related to wearables.
"Smart glasses will be a catalyst for improving how work gets done for millions of people. Ranging from nurses to field installation techs to assembly line workers to warehousing and logistics, these types of jobs can be done better with real-time, hands-free access to information. The technology is now at a state where it is available, affordable and practical for business use," explains Ed English, the chief product officer at APX Labs.
"We are seeing a strong interest in wearable technology applications across our client base, from manufacturing, to healthcare, to retail," added Andrew Vaz, chief innovation officer, Deloitte Consulting LLP. "The exponential pace of growth in wearable technologies requires a proactive strategy to capture the promise of this technology. Working with APX Labs, we are able to provide clients with a new immersive experience that will help them better understand this emerging technology and determine whether and how it can be used to their competitive advantage."
