Raytheon Company Analyst Notes
On May 13, 2014, Raytheon Company (Raytheon) announced a milestone with the delivery of the 1000th Miniature Air Launched Decoy Jammer (MALD® -J) to the U.S. Air Force as part of the Lot 5 production contract. Weighing less than 300 lbs., MALD is a state-of-the-art, low-cost flight vehicle that is modular, air-launched and programmable. With a range of approximately 500 nautical miles, it protects aircraft and their crews by duplicating the combat flight profiles and signatures of U.S. and allied aircraft. MALD-J is basically the addition of radar-jamming capability to the MALD platform. Mike Jarrett, Vice President of Air Warfare Systems for Raytheon Missile Systems, remarked, "The MALD program has enjoyed a perfect 33-for-33 flight test record over the past two years. The MALD has demonstrated it can simultaneously increase the combat capability of platforms, sensors, weapons and decision-makers working in the battlespace."
