ST. LOUIS, April 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Four Seasons Compassion for Life (Four Seasons), an award-winning hospice and palliative care nonprofit organization in North Carolina, is partnering with Enterprise Fleet Management to provide and manage vehicles for its traveling clinicians and community staff members.
"By eliminating the stress that comes with traveling in older vehicles, which require more maintenance and vehicle liability, our partnership with Enterprise will increase cost savings and improve employee wellness," said Millicent Burke-Sinclair, Four Season's chief operating officer of palliative care and vice president of employee and volunteer solutions.
Enterprise Fleet Management recently delivered a total of 20 Nissan Sentras and Jukes to the Four Seasons headquarters in Flat Rock, N.C., as well as to the organization's surrounding office locations. The vehicles, which are branded with the Four Seasons logo, are expected to save the organization an estimated $30,000 per year as well as improve visibility of the Four Seasons brand and enhance the driving experience, safety and reliability for employees. In turn, this will allow employees to provide better care in homes in the communities they serve.
"Our clinical staff will benefit from reliable and affordable transportation as they serve patients in the community," said Michelle Webb, chief nursing officer for Four Seasons. "In some cases our staff travels long distances to rural areas. Our partnership with Enterprise Fleet Management relieves some of the burden of responsibility that comes with using and maintaining a personal vehicle to serve patients and families throughout the region."
Four Seasons serves customers in western North Carolina, including Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Polk, Swain and Transylvania counties. Employees drive anywhere from five to 250 miles a day to provide care to patients with serious illnesses in their homes.
"Most traditional healthcare entities spend budget on facilities for patients and staff," said Chris Comeaux, president and CEO of Four Seasons. "Since our employees spend a significant amount of time commuting, we opted to invest the valuable funding we receive from our donors in the vehicles our employees use. Through our partnership with Enterprise, we are improving the resources of our employees, who exemplify our mission and take Four Seasons' special kind of caring into people's homes every day."
Enterprise Fleet Management is a privately-held, full-service fleet management business for companies, government agencies and organizations operating medium-sized fleets of 20 or more vehicles, as well as those seeking an alternative to employee reimbursement programs. The business operates a network of more than 50 fully-staffed offices, which manages a fleet of more than 430,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada.
Through the partnership with Four Seasons, Enterprise Fleet Management will conduct ongoing use and performance monitoring, and track fuel purchases and miles driven to ensure that all vehicles are properly and regularly maintained. It will also handle licensing, registration and auto insurance, and provide fuel and maintenance cards to cover vehicle expenses. "The program we developed for Four Seasons allows the organization's employees to enjoy all the benefits of a new fleet," said Kim Kalvonjian, account manager at Enterprise Fleet Management in North Carolina. "In addition, Four Seasons can improve its visibility and efficiency while reducing costs."
History of Partnering with Healthcare Organizations
Enterprise Fleet Management has a long history of partnering with organizations in the health services industry, including Hometown Home Health & Hospice in Michigan, Solace Home Healthcare in Colorado, and Eden Autism, a New Jersey-based nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the lives of children and adults with autism. Over the past five years, Enterprise Fleet Management has delivered and maintained 43 vehicles in Eden's fleet alone and is planning to add up to 12 additional vehicles this year.
"Throughout our partnership, Enterprise Fleet Management has always been extremely helpful, professional and responsive. It's like we're members of the same team," said Larry Monaco, fleet manager at Eden Autism. "Enterprise has worked diligently to find us the best deals and respond quickly to any maintenance requests we may have. With their support, we know we're not out there alone."
Eden currently operates 25 New Jersey group residences; two employment and day centers; and a school located in Princeton. The vehicles – a combination of Ford Transits and Dodge Caravans, among other makes and models – are used to transport more than 250 residents and students. Employees travel an average of 31 miles a day, transporting students and residents to and from residential locations, places of employment, day centers and schools.
"Enterprise Fleet Management excels at understanding its customers' business needs and tailoring its offerings and approach to meet those needs," said John Inzilla, chief financial officer at Eden Autism. "Over the past several years since we've worked with Enterprise, our ability to improve the lives of children and adults with autism has been enhanced by focusing on our core mission and allowing Enterprise to focus on theirs – our fleet."

About Four Seasons Compassion for Life
Celebrating its 35th year of service in 2014, Four Seasons Compassion for Life, a nationally respected, award-winning hospice and palliative care non-profit organization, remains deeply committed to serving the community through fulfilling its mission of "Co-Creating the Care Experience." To date, Four Seasons Compassion for Life has served more than 10,000 patients in Henderson and Buncombe counties and surrounding areas.
The Four Seasons tradition of excellence began in 1979 when Jean Moulthrop Hoogstra, a Henderson County community volunteer, reached out to psychologist John Esse and registered nurse Claire Burse with the objective of providing services to terminally ill persons who would prefer to die at home. Under the auspices of a steering committee, the Hospice of Henderson County incorporated in December 1979. By June 1981, the hospice served its first patient, and the rest, as they say, is history.
