Delaro® fungicide raises the bar on yields in first season on the market

Field trials demonstrate yield advantage and improved plant health in corn and soybeans.

ST. LOUIS, March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The results are in, and in its debut season, fields treated with Delaro^® fungicide from Bayer yielded more than the untreated checks. Across the nation, Delaro on average increased corn yield by 16 bu/A. In soybean trials, Delaro delivered an additional 6 bu/A across the Midwest.

In corn, Delaro had a positive yield response in 90 percent of trials.

Raymond, Illinois, grower Randy Riemann saw results higher than the average yield increase.

"We saw a 14-to-33 bushel yield advantage in our corn hybrids that were treated with Delaro," Riemann said. "It was hard to believe that much difference in the yield where we applied it and where we didn't. I was pleased with my experience with Delaro. It did what we wanted it to do."

Given the weather stress and storm challenges Mid-Atlantic growers face, increasing stalk strength is as important to growers as disease control, said Malone Rosemond, Bayer senior technical service representative.

"Delaro showed higher yields in our trials in 2018," Rosemond said. "With broad spectrum disease control, Delaro helps funnel the plant's energy into production, so growers see increased plant health, improved stalk strength and higher yields."

In corn, the broad-spectrum control of Delaro protects against some of the worst yield-robbing diseases such as gray leaf spot, northern corn leaf blight, tar spot, rusts and anthracnose.

Delaro showed positive response rate of 91 percent in 2018 soybean trials

The 6 bu/A average yield increase is only part of the Delaro soybean story. In soybean trials, Delaro showed a positive response rate of 91 percent. Those numbers come from effective disease control and increased plant health.

In soybeans, Delaro is effective for managing diseases such as frogeye leaf spot, brown spot, white mold and aerial blight. Delaro also promotes dark leaves for improved photosynthesis and increases the plant's stress tolerance for improved plant health.

Eric Ifft, customer business advisor at Bayer, says growers see an advantage to applying Delaro even under low disease pressure.

"Growers always want to outdo themselves, season after season," said Ifft, "Diseases can be devastating to yields. Even in areas with lower disease pressure, tough market conditions mean growers need to strive for the maximum potential of their corn hybrids and soybean varieties. Many growers I work with saw Delaro do just that on their operation this season."

Unlike other corn and soybean fungicides, Delaro delivers long-lasting residual control from both its strobilurin and triazole components for extended performance. The strobilurin provides broad-spectrum disease control with a long residual. The triazole complements the strobilurin with equally tough broad-spectrum activity with a residual that lasts throughout the entire spray interval.

With Delaro, corn and soybean plants better use resources, such as water.
