VISTA, Calif., Sept. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Forte for Children, a Vista, California-based charitable foundation whose mission is to provide disadvantaged youth with access to music therapy and music education programs, announced it has distributed more than $3 million to date for its key beneficiaries. Established by DEI Holdings, Inc.—parent company to some of the most famous brands in consumer electronics, including Polk Audio, Definitive Technology, Viper, Clifford, Python and more—Forte for Children announced the funds at its sixth annual Charity Foundation Gala, which took place on Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, California. As a direct result of the gala, the foundation awarded $354,000 in immediate grants to its beneficiaries, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista; The Moonlight Cultural Foundation; Solutions for Change and Casa de Amparo.
Coinciding with the foundation's passion for music and the arts, guests were entertained with live music by Bonnie Foster Productions, dancing, live and silent auctions, and performances from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Vista and San Marcos, as well as the Moonlight Cultural Foundation. Notable attendees of the gala included Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA), chairman of the Government Oversight Committee; legendary Pittsburgh Steeler and NFL Hall of Fame member, Franco Harris; Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame member, Andre Reed; former San Diego Charger and Green Bay Packer, Willie Buchanon and San Diego State alum and former New Orleans Saint, Lynell Hamilton. Additionally, DEI's 13th annual charity golf tournament was held the following Monday, Aug. 24, at Aviara's world-renowned Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, where donors enjoyed 18 holes and a luncheon.
"Our DEI team shares a passion for music and as a company with roots in North San Diego County, it's important for us to support the local organizations that share the same love for music and the arts," said Jim Minarik, chairman and founder of Forte for Children, and DEI's CEO. "It's proven that music greatly benefits youth, which is why it's our mission to make sure kids are exposed to creative and artistic outlets. I am grateful we are able to work with such passionate beneficiaries to create a long-lasting, positive impact on children's lives."
Proceeds raised at this year's gala were allocated to the local beneficiaries and invested into the foundation to ensure Forte for Children's support of local music programs for years to come.
