Designed as a fast-deploying solution for MVNOs and independent regional service providers, the new Amdocs offering provides a full, cost-effective BSS platform delivered via a software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model, backed by Amdocs operational support.
Defense Mobile is currently preparing to launch a new nationwide 4G mobile service and military affinity platform to active duty military, veterans, and their families through the brands ArmyMobile, NavyMobile, AirForceMobile, MarinesMobile and CoastGuardMobile. Defense Mobile is committed to helping military families save more, get more, and do more by offering exclusive services and applications to the military community and providing a percentage of corporate profits to military charitable causes.
When it launches in 2014 over Tier-1 mobile operator networks, Defense Mobile will rely on Amdocs Compact Convergence on the Cloud for all its convergent BSS needs, including ordering, provisioning, service delivery, charging, billing and customer support. This cloud-based service, managed and hosted at Amdocs data center facilities, will enable Defense Mobile to launch new offers and plans in a matter of days, with unlimited service bundling possibilities.
"Defense Mobile selected Amdocs as our core BSS system because this solution can meet our needs not just today, but as we grow to serve the requirements of the U.S. military community," said Andrew Reilly, chief financial officer at Defense Mobile. "Amdocs Compact Convergence on the Cloud's innovative 'pay as you grow' model and its adaptability to run across various mobile networks were also key factors in our decision. Knowing that this cloud-based solution is fully backed by Amdocs, the industry leader, gives us confidence and operational peace of mind."
"The U.S. military community, including active-duty service members, veterans and their families, has made tremendous sacrifices in service to our country," said Tidal W. (Ty) McCoy, former Secretary of the U.S. Air Force and current Defense Mobile advisory board member. "They will benefit from the range of advanced new mobile services offered by Defense Mobile and its brands -- all of which will be supported by Amdocs to ensure a positive customer experience."
"Defense Mobile will have their complete business support solutions delivered via a private cloud managed and hosted by Amdocs," said Eric Updyke, president of the North America region at Amdocs. "The 'pay as you grow' business model of our Amdocs Compact Convergence on the Cloud is ideal for MVNOs, greenfield service providers, and independent regional service providers as it lets them partner with a single, dependable vendor with proven methodologies, processes and best practices as they focus on their core business."
