Defense Logistics Agency To Host a Free Service Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business Town Hall at Its Columbus, Ohio, Conference
FORT BELVOIR, Va., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Service disabled, veteran-owned small business owners are encouraged to attend the Defense Logistics Agency Enterprise Supplier Conference and Exhibition, August 23 – 25, 2010, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.
For those who cannot attend the entire conference, there will be a free town hall session for service disabled, veteran-owned small business owners. The town hall will be at the convention center on Aug. 25 from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. in Room C216. During the town hall, service disabled, veteran-owned small business owners can provide ideas on how DLA can maximize partnering with them. To attend the free town hall, participants should plan to arrive at the convention center on Aug. 25 between 2:00-2:30 p.m. and go to the registration desk for directions to the session.
This year's conference theme is "Globally Responsive Forward Support," highlighting the agency's role in providing worldwide logistics support and the need for continued collaborative leadership supporting the global supply chain with greater efficiency and at reduced costs.
Representatives from all of DLA's supply chains will be at the conference to discuss topics such as ways to do business with the agency, collaborative forecasting and procurement integrity.
As the Department of Defense's combat logistics support agency, DLA provides the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, other federal agencies, and joint and allied forces with a variety of logistics, acquisition and technical services. The agency sources and provides nearly 100 percent of the consumable items America's military forces need to operate, from food, fuel and energy, to uniforms, medical supplies, and construction and barrier equipment. DLA also supplies more than 80 percent of the military's spare parts.
